The Why—jesus Died! Series

Romans 3:25 “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.” (NIV)

The False (Why’s):

1) Jesus did not die by accident!

John 10:17-18

Nobody took Jesus’ life from Him, He gave it up voluntarily!

2) Jesus did not die as a martyr!

Acts 2:23

Question: Why did Jesus have to die?

The Five Explanations of (The Why):

1) The Ransom (Why).

Jesus came to earth to exchange Himself for us as a hostage.

2) The Moral Influence (Why).

Influences of the Cross:

Luke 23:42-43—the Thief on the Cross.

Luke 23:47 – the Centurion.

Caution:

The Cross is only a partial example of His.

God has shown His love in many others ways too!

3) The Victory (Why).

Hebrews 2:14-15

The whole book of Revelation teaches one thing—God Wins!

4) The Relationship (Why).

2 Corinthians 5:17

We were separated from God but it was Jesus who brought us together!

Question: What is the caution here? It is incomplete!

5) The Substitution (Why). Vs. 25

Hebrews 9:27-28

Jesus was condemned so you can stop condemning yourself!

2 Corinthians 5:21 Galatians 3:13

Our Response to the (Why):

We should HATE SIN!

We should Love Christ!

We should make the Message of Jesus known to All!

Love leaves no choice at all!
