Summary: The Gospel in short is found in John 3:16
25 words are the Gospel.
God’s Word is sharper than any two edged sword the Bible says. To me that means when God’s Word goes into someone it pierces the very soul and cuts the sinful heart and causes repentance all at the same time. I have thought about a verse of Scripture this week that can do just that and much more. It even tells the Gospel in one sentence. I believe all our Grandchildren and even our Great-grandchild can recite it. I would say it has been recited more than any other verse in the Bible. Used more times to bring someone to Christ than any other.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Our Lord spoke these words and when you look at each phrase, they are amazing just as He is. John said in chapter 1 and verse 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 The same was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
“For God” was all things made and by God were all things made. Jesus has always been with God because The same was in the beginning with God. Because the Word John is talking about is Jesus. Verse 14 of John 1 says 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, ….Why did Jesus become flesh and dwell among us?....because, He
“so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son”
“that whosoever believeth in him” Apostle Paul said it like this in Romans 10: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Salvation is as simple as John 3:16….believe in your heart that God raised His Son Jesus from the dead. Confess your sins with your mouth. You can take your sins to an altar; you can pray the sinner’s prayer with someone but, there is something about laying it all at the foot of the cross and confessing your sins out loud just you and the Lord. There is something about confessing your sins and hear yourself as you repent before the very Throne of Heaven. I believe it’s then when most realize just how great a God we serve….One that can take away not only your sins but, the sins of the world!
Why would anyone want to confess before God? Why would anyone want to believe that Jesus is the only way truth and life? Why would anyone want to believe that God has raised His Son from the dead? Because, those who believe in Him……….
“should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This world we live in has many choices in life for all of us but, for everlasting life there are only 2.
Both are very simple.
Number 1: choice is to live in sin without forgiveness, separated from God, be judged and thrown into Hell.
Number 2: is to accept Jesus as your Saviour and believe in Him and ask forgiveness of sin and when you die in this body of flesh….you will instantly be with Him forevermore in a place called Heaven.
Which choice have you made? If you say neither then you have automatically made choice Number 1.
