Relationships God's Way Part #2 Series

Last week we talked about how women communicate in feelings and men communicate in facts.

Since, men and women are different and God has also designed specific roles for each.

Relationships God’s Way—The Roles of Husband and Wife

1. It takes God to be a wife, the way God intended a wife to be.

Vs. 22-24 “Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.” (NIV)

What Paul is saying in verse 21 is that men and women are equal.

The wife is to submit not because she is inferior but for harmony and unity in the marriage because submission can only happen with equals.

However, there is a Problem:

Genesis 3:16 "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you." (NIV)

Desire—“ to take over” in the Greek it means “the wife will want to control of the husband.”

But with God’s help the wife will learn to submit to her husband.

I Peter 3:1 “Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives.”(NIV)

1 Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” (NIV)

It is very important to note though wives are only submissive to their husbands!

2. It takes God to be a husband, the way God intended a husband to be. Vs. 25-32 See Power Point

Husbands you are to have a sacrificial love for your wife! This is the deepest kind of love.

If you are willing to die for your wife then taking out the trash is no big deal.

Husbands love is to also be dedicated! Vs. 26-27 See Power Point

Love is a choice! It is something you do!

1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.” (NIV)

Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (NIV)

Husbands love is to be a complete love! Vs. 31 See Power Point

Husbands love your wife as Christ loves the church and she will follow you.
