Summary: Jesus going from Humanity - Revealed in Diety Transformed back to Humanity.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7 But Jesus came and touched them and said, "Arise, and do not be afraid." 8 When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. 9 Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead." 10 And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" 11 Jesus answered and said to them, "Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. 12 But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands." 13 Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
When the disciples heard
Vs. 6) This was voice was that was heard:
1) In the garden 2) At the Baptism of Jesus
In the garden there was not a good voice hear
Down at the water this was something to hear
Hearing the voice of God is not always a bad sign, there are some good thing that god wants to say.
When we hear the voice of God there should be a sense of reverence for the voice of God
Vs. 7) The touch of Jesus is usually one of:
1) Healing
2) Strengthening
3) Comforting
Vs.8)Don’t be afraid
Matt 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matt 14:27
But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! Don’t be afraid."
Matt 8:26
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
As long as Jesus is with you there’s no need to worry
Jesus talked to Elijah and Moses when they lifted up their heads after the voice of God they saw no one but Jesus (Vision).
Vision
The purpose of visions was to give guidance and direction to God’s servants and to foretell the future. Daniel’s vision, for example, told of the coming of the Messiah.
