INTRODUCTION:
Persistent faith is the unwavering trust in God's promises, even when circumstances seem contrary. It is the kind of faith that refuses to give up, holding on until there is a manifestation of the promise. In a world full of delays, discouragements, and disappointments, it is only persistent faith that prevails and receives the desired miracle.
Jesus told the parable of the persistent widow to illustrate that we should always pray and not give up. Her consistency in asking moved a reluctant judge to act. How much more will our heavenly Father respond to His children who keep trusting Him with perseverance?
This message is a call to rekindle your faith—to believe again, ask again, pray again, and expect again. When faith is persistent, nothing can stand in the way of your breakthrough.
1. PERSISTENT FAITH REFUSES TO GIVE UP
Faith that endures does not surrender in the face of delay, silence, or opposition.
a) Persistent faith is not discouraged by time delays (Habakkuk 2:3): God's vision may tarry, but it shall surely come.
b) Persistent faith presses on despite negative circumstances (Romans 4:19): Abraham did not waver, even when his body was as good as dead.
c) Persistent faith trusts even when answers seem far away (Psalm 27:14): Wait on the Lord and be of good courage.
d) Persistent faith keeps showing up until something changes (Luke 18:1): Jesus taught us to always pray and not lose heart.
Biblical Example: The Syrophoenician woman persisted until Jesus healed her daughter (Matthew 15:21-28).
2. PERSISTENT FAITH BREAKS BARRIERS
Faith has the power to overcome limitations and resist every obstacle standing in the way.
a) It breaks through resistance from people and systems (Mark 2:4): The friends of the paralytic broke the roof to reach Jesus.
b) It confronts and overcomes spiritual opposition (Ephesians 6:12-13): Standing firm in the evil day requires persistent faith.
c) It overrides human opinions and negative voices (Numbers 13:30): Caleb silenced the crowd with faith.
d) It activates divine favour and access (Hebrews 11:33): Through faith, they subdued kingdoms and obtained promises.
Biblical Example: Bartimaeus ignored the crowd and cried louder until Jesus stopped (Mark 10:46-52).
3. PERSISTENT FAITH IS ROOTED IN GOD’S CHARACTER
True faith relies not on feelings or facts but on the unchanging nature of God.
a) It believes that God is faithful to His word (Hebrews 10:23): He who promised is faithful.
b) It rests in God’s ability to do the impossible (Luke 1:37): With God, nothing shall be impossible.
c) It stands on God’s promises, not emotions (Isaiah 55:11): His word will not return void.
d) It grows stronger through trials (Romans 5:3-4): Trials produce perseverance and proven character.
Biblical Example: Abraham believed against hope and saw the fulfilment of God’s promise (Romans 4:20-21).
4. PERSISTENT FAITH RECEIVES RESULTS
There is always a reward for those who refuse to give up on God.
a) It provokes divine attention and intervention (Luke 18:7): God will bring justice to His elect who cry to Him day and night.
b) It moves the hand of God in miraculous ways (Mark 11:24): Whatever you ask in faith, believe and receive.
c) It unlocks doors that seemed permanently shut (Revelation 3:7-8): God opens doors no man can shut.
d) It turns delays into testimonies (John 11:40): If you believe, you will see the glory of God.
Biblical Example: Hannah’s persistence in prayer brought forth Samuel (1 Samuel 1:10-20).
CONCLUSION:
Persistent faith is not optional for believers who desire to walk in victory. It is the key to receiving from God when others give up too soon. Whether you’re waiting for healing, breakthrough, restoration, or revival—don’t stop praying, don’t stop believing, don’t stop knocking. God honours those who persist in faith.
The power of persistent faith is seen in its refusal to quit, its bold approach to God, and its unwavering stand on His promises. Whatever you’re trusting God for, be assured that persistent faith will deliver it into your hands in due season.
