The Power Of Humility Series

Humility is not just a virtue, but a fundamental aspect of our walk with God. Let us examine what Scripture says about humility and how we can cultivate it in our lives.

In Matthew 18:4, Jesus teaches us that to be great in God’s kingdom, we must become like children — humble, dependent, and open to learning. Luke 14:11 reminds us to take the lowest seat, not seeking to elevate ourselves above others.

Philippians 2:3–11 encourages us to esteem others better than ourselves, having the same mind as Christ Jesus, who humbled Himself to the point of death on a cross. James 4:10 warns us against pride and encourages us to humble ourselves before God, that He may exalt us in due time.

Proverbs 22:4 reminds us that humility and fear of the Lord lead to wealth, honor, and life. In 1 Peter 5:5–6, we are called to clothe ourselves with humility, casting all our cares on God, who lifts us up. Romans 12:3 cautions us against thinking too highly of ourselves, instead recognizing our gifts and abilities come from God.

Finally, Proverbs 11:2 tells us that when pride comes, disgrace follows, but humility precedes honor. John 3:30 reminds us that Christ must increase, and we must decrease.

May these verses convict and inspire us to cultivate humility in our daily lives. May we seek to serve, rather than be served, and embrace the power of humility, that God may exalt us in His perfect time. Amen!
