Message Point: We must not allow political correctness to alter our application of God’s Word.

Focus Passage: Matthew 7:1-5

Introduction: “The Bible says, ‘Judge not, lest ye be judged’”. Perhaps you should respond with “‘twist not Scripture lest ye be like Satan.”

I. The Butchered Bible Version

a. Who are you to judge me?

b. You have no right to tell me

II. The Verse in Context with Intent

a. A judgmental attitude is wrong

b. Judging others while refusing to repentance in your own life is wrong

c. Taking God’s place as judge is wrong

d. If you judge with mercy, you’ll be judged with mercy. If you judge severely, you’ll be judged severely.

III. Implications and Application

a. We are expected to judge right from wrong; good from sin

b. We are expected to practice church discipline

c. We are expected to call people to repentance and salvation

d. We cannot use this verse to refuse to accept biblical discipline or correction
