Summary: Sermon in the Series Spiritual Warfare

1. Stand:

a. There is never a time that we can let down.

b. The Bible says that we are to be instant in season and out of season.

c. You must have a firm and total commitment to God and a Godly life.

d. Do all things consistent with the Christian lifestyle.

e. Trust in the Lord for strength.

f. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall anything.

2. Examples of Standing:

a. David had an unshakable faith in God. Saul tried to kill him, and David hid in a cave. Even so he said, "My heart is steadfast of God; my heart is steadfast."(Psalm 57:7).

b. Joseph stood against moral compromise. "After a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me" (Genesis 39:7). "She caught him by his cloak and said, "Come to bed with me, but he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house" (v.12). Joseph followed the instruction Paul wrote later in 1 Corinthians 6:18 telling us to flee from sexual immorality.

c. Peter and John stood against political forces (Acts 4:18,19).

1. Peter and John have healed the lame man at the gate Beautiful in Jerusalem.

2. The counsel called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

3. Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard." (vv. 19-20).

d.The three Hebrew Boys stood firm in the faith.

1. Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, ninety feet high and nine feet wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura. "Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace."

2. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied: "If we are thrown into blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O King, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

3. They were thrown into the furnace, and God saved them. Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They trusted in him and defied the King’s command, and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God".
