Genesis 24:1-63

1-Knowing God’s Word

He knew that he was suppose too have lots of descendants and the world was going to be blessed because of them.

And why was that? Jesus would be born!

2-Do Something About What You Know

There maybe things that you don’t know what God wants you to do, but there are some things that you already know that God wants you to do….Church, tithe, witness, pray, give, love…..Start there!!

I mean in life when you need a job, you don’t just wish for it, or hope for it, you may go as far as pray for it, but you still have to fill out applications!!

God always honors or rewards people who are busy doing something, doing what they know to do!

Moses was tending his father-in-laws sheep when the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a burning bush!

Gideon was threshing wheat, when the Angel of the Lord appeared to him.

How did David know that God was with him when he fought against Goliath…. 1 Samuel 17:34-36-But David said to Saul, "Your servant used to keep his father's sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock,

35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.

36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God."

3-Know That God Has A Plan

The servant asked Abraham, but what if I get there and the girl doesn’t want to come back with me?

Proverbs 3:6-In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Always remember that He is in control, every intersection, every crossroads, every u turn, every achievement and every disappointment, every mountain top and every valley God can use and does use to get us where we need to be, but the key to that, is knowing that He is doing it and that He will do it!

A side note to following God’s guidance is making sure we are following His guidance and not our own!

In other words trying to put a square peg in a round hole….When we try to make things work out the way we want them!!

Like having a thousand dollar house payment, and all you really can afford is a 500 dollar house payment, you may make it work for a while, but pretty soon you are going to be living on the streets or with someone!

I am afraid that many times people act all religious, saying they want God’s guidance in their life, but the truth of the matter is, they are just seeking God’s stamp of approval on their own plans!!

God can bring about great things in our life, better things than we can even imagine!

4-Sign Seeking

Genesis 24:11-14-And he made his camels kneel down outside the city by a well of water at evening time, the time when women go out to draw water.

12 Then he said, "O LORD God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

13 Behold, here I stand by the well of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.

14 Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, 'Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,' and she says, 'Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink'--let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master."

I know there will be people who will say that we should not test God, but God knows we are weak and feeble people, and we need help along the way, we need signs to make sure we are going in the right direction.

Matthew 7:7-8- "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Do not be afraid to ask God for a sign, especially when you are seeking God’s will in a situation!!

Genesis 24:17-And the servant ran to meet her and said, "Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher."

Genesis 24:21-And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

I want you to understand he is excited to see her, the answer to his prayer but he waits to see if she is the one whom God has sent!
