CHRIST CARES!

John 6:1-14

(Devotional Series 2)

The miracles of Jesus is usually taken as an illustration of how we should be passing the Gospel to people who are "hungry" to know God. This is not wrong. But don’t miss the first truth in this story, which is that Jesus fed a crowd of hungry people with bread and fish! Take it that way today.

I. Christ cares about the people’s stomach!

Sometimes it seems that the more "orthodox" Christians are, the less they care about whether people have enough to eat. This isn’t right. Wherever people are hungry, it’s our job to try to get food to them (5).

II. Christ cares about the poor supply!

It would take an array of computers to calculate how many distress people are in the world--teeming in city slums, huddled in refugee camps, starving in famine-striken areas, or made homeless by war. Forty dollars worth (7)? No, Philip; forty million dollars would not be enough! But still Christ cares!

III. Christ cares about the proper solution!

And what is the proper solution? For those who care to do what they can (9), however little it may seem. Small gifts have a way of getting multiplied (11)!

Prayer: O God, help all the needy people of this world. Use me to answer this prayer. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Keynote: Let hands follow heart.
