"Lost In Translation: The Illusion Of Life." Series

Summary: What would it be like if God was completely pulled out of your life?
“When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”
Ephesians 4:17-19 “So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.” (NIV)
Question: What would it be like if God was completely pulled out of your life?
Question: What would it be like to look at your life and not see God’s hand in it?
Godless thinking always leads to Godless action.
There is an illusion of life that for the Godless has been lost in translation.
The Illusion of Life:
1. It is an illusion to think, that life can have meaning without God.
For the Greeks: Philosophy was the savior but this was their futility.
Woody Allen said, “The problem with a rat race is no matter who wins your still a rat.”
Ecclesiastes 1:2 Solomon said, “Everything is meaningless,” … “completely meaningless!” (NLT) Without God!
1 Corinthians 2:14 “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (NIV)
To understand the meaning and purpose of life it starts with a relationship with God!
Psalms 14: 1 “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” (NIV)
2. It is an illusion to think, you can deal with life without God.
Characteristics of Godlessness: Darken understanding, Difficulty separating out truth, and Harding of the heart; Petrifying and Calloused.
Fact is sin will harden your heart!
Hebrews 3:13 “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” (NIV)
3. It is an illusion to think, a continual lust for more will satisfy.
This is the continual spiral down, Harding of the heart, Losing all sensitivity and Given over to sensuality.
If you don’t deal with your pain, then you will mask it!
1 Timothy 4:1-2 “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” (NIV)
Why have they given themselves over to the sensuality?
When you lose Sensitivity you are under an anesthetic, a pain killer.
Hear the Prayer of David
Psalms 143
David was in Pain, Paralyzed and in Fear.
David did Two things: He Remember What God had Done.
And He Worship God for What he had Done.
