Psalm 16 Satisfaction

I. The Lord's Protection - 1-4

1) The wise will run to God and find satisfaction -

1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust

2) The unwise will run from God and find sorrow

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god:

II. The Lord's Provision - 5-6 The Lord is

1) Our Sustenance - 5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:

2) Our Security - thou maintainest my lot.

3) Our Salvation - 6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places;

yea, I have a goodly heritage.

III. The Lord's Presence - 7-8

1) His Counsel - 7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel:

2) His Comfort - 7 my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

3) His Courage - 8 I have set the Lord always before me:

because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

IV. The Lord's Prize - 9-11 - We experience

1) His Peace - 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth:

my flesh also shall rest in hope.

2) His Power - 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell;

neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

3) His Presence - 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life:

in thy presence is fulness of joy;

at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

The Journey – Thou wilt shew me the path of life:

A. It is a Particular Path - Thou wilt shew me the path of life:

A Path of Delays, Difficulties, Discouragements, but Development.

2 Cor.4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

B. a Personnal Path - Thou wilt shew me

C. a Plain Path – Thou wilt shew me the path of life.

Ps.32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Is.48:17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

D. a Prosperous Path – Thou wilt shew me the path of life.

The Joy – in thy presence is fulness of joy.

A. It is Available –

B. It is Accessible –

C. It is Abundant – is fullness of joy. (Regardless of circumstances)

D. It is Absolute – in thy presence is fulness of joy.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face.

The Jubilation - at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore

A. A Particular Place – at thy right hand - the need to be near to God.

B. A Profound Pleasure – there are pleasures

C. A Precious Promise – for evermore - "It wears well"

Rev. 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
