Summary: In Revelations chapter six thw first horsemen is the antichrist, but following him there are three other horsemen that are used to eliminate this false peace he establishes.
The Horsemen
Revelations 6:3-8
At the opening of first seal which begins a series of 7 judgments upon the earth. The first begins with the antichrist riding on a white horse and his establishing a false peace.
See: Daniel 9:27 He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week and in the midst of the week he shall…
The term Tribulation and Great Tribulation refers to the first 3 ½ years versus the last 3 ½ years of the 7 year tribulation
See: Daniel 7:24-25 Times, and time and dividing of time
Jeremiah 30:7 Jacob’s trouble
Rev. 11:2-3 The 1,260 days is 3 ½ years by Jewish calendar of 360 days
Rev. 12:6, 14 Here we see also the 3 ½ days
Also: Rev. 13:5 The forty-two months
These last 3 ½ years are with the absence of peace
Mention: Matt. 24:21 There shall be great tribulation such as not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever before
1. The Horse of War
Vs.3-4 The red horse: power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth
“That they should kill one another”
Peace will be turned into war!
This red horse will be compounded upon with a black horse
2. The Horse of Famine
See: Vs.5-6 A pair of balances (scales)
“A measure of wheat for a penny and three measures of barley for a penny”
Mention: Ezekiel 4:16-17 A similar event happened in Jerusalem as God judged His people
That penny represents a day wages that would only be enough to buy food for that day or three days depending on whether wheat or barley is brought!
But there would be nothing left to buy oil or wine.
Point: The aftermath of war inevitable leads to a famine
3. The Horse of Death and Hell
Vs.7-8 Then follows the pale horse and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with Him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth to kill with sword, and hunger, and with death, and with beasts of the earth.
“Death and Hell”
“¼ Part of the earth will be kill by sword, hunger, death or the beast of the earth”
Est. World Population is 6.4 billion: ¼ equals 1.6 billion deaths
Mention: Ezekiel 14:21 Here God judgment unto Jerusalem very similar
See: Zechariah 6:1-3 Mentions four chariots that has the same color of these horses and they are used here in this text to represent the divine judgment of God.
Each of these horses in Revelations 6 represents the divine judgments of God.
What brings about such judgment? I believe lawlessness
In a lawless society there is no order and this brings about divine judgment. This is true all through the Bible when a people live contrary to God’s law.
See: 1 Tim. 1:9-10 The law is for the lawless and disobedient
The only way to escape God judgment is to acceptance God’s provision which is in His Son Jesus the Christ. 1 Thessa. 1:9-10
