Are You Being Stubborn Enough? Series

Psalm 81:11-12 “But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.” The Israelites weren't listening to God in the wilderness. They weren't listening to him when the prophets warned them. And their kings weren't listening to him as well. Therefore; their nation’s destruction and captivity became inevitable. They pretty much sealed the deal without any help. They were so sure of themselves that God ended up giving them up to their own counsel, their own conceit if you will. 1 Corinthians 3:19 explains, "...the wisdom of man is foolishness to God."

Though God's patience for his beloved creation may seem endless because He continues to give us that second chance; it is never to be taken for granted. There comes a time when God will allow chastisements in order to keep us within the palm of his hand. He will do whatever it takes to help us walk toward a sanctified lifestyle. And unfortunately; both those who have been exposed to the gospel without desiring to apply it to their lives and those who have read it only to attack the article and degrade the author, are going to be held accountable for hearing the truth just so they have no excuse (Rom 1:18-20).

When we deliberately disregard the Bible's warning signs; God decides to teach them to us from a different angle, just so we will understand and pursue the only truth there is. He does not like our stubbornness about the use of certain other tools to gain insight into patterns and movements of the true meaning of life. Divination outside of the Bible is a serious abomination to God.

The only common denominator we all have is the fact that before we were saved, we all had Jesus’ blood on our hands. Therefore; being disobedient no longer suits us if and when we truly understand why Christ dies on the cross.

However; this earthly life will continue to attack our relationship with God by causing us to question his ways. It takes a great sense of determination to trust him and stay focused on our God-given purpose of running this race of holiness. God does and will always provide all that we need as long as we intend to please him only, and desire a deeper relationship with him. And that, my friend, is the only time we are to be stubborn. Living stubbornly to achieve a holier existence through God's Word and promises is all that counts in the end.
