Series: Rebuild The Gates [#10]

THE INSPECTION GATE

Nehemiah 3:31-32

Introduction:

As we have traveled around the City of Jerusalem with Nehemiah, we have come to the last gate. Before we look at this last gate, I want to quickly review all of the gates.

1. The Sheep Gate: The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

2. The Fish Gate: Evangelism.

3. The Old Gate: The old Truths and path to God.

4. The Valley Gate: Humbleness during trials.

5. The Dung Gate: Cleaning it up.

6. The Fountain Gate: The Holy Spirit.

7. The Water Gate: The Word of God.

8. The Horse Gate: Spiritual warfare.

9. The East Gate: The Second Coming.

This brings us to our last gate:

10. The Inspection Gate.

Nehemiah 3:31-32

Many translations of Scripture refer to this gate as Gate Miphkad. The word “Miphkad” actually means in Hebrew, “review; registry; appointment; account; census; mustering”.

There were 2 very important things that occurred at this gate:

* Soldiers would pass through this gate to be inspected by their King David.

* You had to register at this gate to enter into Jerusalem.

Hebrews 9:27-28

All of us are going to die and all of us are going to have to stand before God and give an account of our lives. The “Inspection” of each of us, 1 by 1 is recorded in the Judgment of Christ when He separates the sheep from the goats.

Matthew 25:31-34

Regardless of who we think is saved or not; Jesus will separate them out. There will be 2 judgments- 1 for the sheep and 1 for the goats.

Let’s look at the 1st judgment:

1. Judgment #1- Inspection of soldiers.

We as Christians are in the Army of God, and we will go before the BEMA seat of Christ where our lives will be inspected. Our lives will go through the refiner’s fire. At this time, everything we ever do will be put to the test and anything that was for the Lord will survive; everything else will be gone. From this, we will be rewarded with crowns in which we will cast at the feet of Jesus.

Let’s look at the 2nd judgment:

2. Judgment #2- Registration to enter.

In order to enter into Heaven, your name must be found in the Lamb’s Book of Life. If it’s not there, you will not go to Heaven.

Matthew 25:41-46

These goats that will not enter into Heaven will face the Great White Throne Judgment. At this judgment of lost people, there will be a book of each person’s life opened up that will be filled with their sins; and then they will be punished according to their sins. They will be cast into a Hell that was created for Satan and the fallen angels; not mankind.
