10 Nature Of Man – Soul: Will – Aid Is Your Interests Last (Joy) Series

Sin (and iniquity) is the disease all men experience.

The symptoms of that disease in the will are selfishness and self-centeredness.

The Solution:

J- Jesus (interests) first

O-Others (interests) next

Y- Your (interests) last

Selfishness and self-centeredness originate in the will of man.

Most simply, natural man seeks his own interests which gravitate to selfishness and self-centeredness.

Ed Cole had a well known summary of love in life:

Lust desires to get at the expense of others;

Love desires to give at the expense of self.

The answer- the aid to treating the symptoms of a sick will- selfishness and self-centeredness – is

LOVE

because Love never fails 1co13:8 and

Love does not seek its own [interests] 1 Co 13:5

The end never justifies the means. What is desirable in a man is faithfulness.

Obedience is better than sacrifice made to atone for disobedience. Even with wisdom when the conscience knows well the good path, the will must submit to the spirit to please God.

Last time you reevaluated your rating of the degree this hindrance plays in your life.

Soul:Will Selfishness, Self -centeredness

A 1 or 2 self-rating indicates you haven’t yet been very diligent concerning cultivating this aspect of love. The encouragement to you is you are self-honest. Time to start relying on the Spirit to develop Love!

A 3 or 4 self-rating indicates you have an ongoing effort in developing Love. Keep on keeping on!!

A 5? – No way!
