Summary: To think about the time of the Last Supper? • Look back - for Christ's death • Look ahead - for the second coming of Christ • Look inside - make a self-examination • Look at the sides - concern yourself with the next
1 Corinthians 11.17-34
Should be practiced by the church until He returns. The elements of the Supper, the bread and wine are symbols of the body and blood of Christ. They do not transubstantiated (ICR - saw body and blood), nor substantiate (Luther - the body and blood of Jesus are present "in, with and under" the forms of bread and wine). They remain bread and wine.
What makes this ordinance so special is that it makes us think - she announces the truths that transform lives.
There are factors essential to the Christian faith that should be highlighted whenever the church celebrates the Lord's Supper:
1.Sobre what to think at the time of the Last Supper?
• Look back - for Christ's death
• Look ahead - for the second coming of Christ
• Look inside - make a self-examination
• Look at the sides - concern yourself with the next
1.Olhe back - DEATH OF CHRIST
1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
The cross of Christ is the center of the Christian message. This historical fact underlies our faith. There is no gospel without the cross of Christ. He ordered his church relembrasse not his miracles, but his death. We must remember why he died, how he died, for whom he died.
2.Olhe forward - The 2nd Coming of Christ
1 Corinthians 11:26 proclaim the Lord's death until he comes
There is a moment of expectation in every celebration of the Lord's Supper. She points to the reason for our hope. The second coming of Christ is the great hope of the Christian in a world where evil has done so much damage.
3rd. Look inside - The self-examination CHRISTIAN
1 Corinthians 11:28 Examine yourself, because the man himself.
We are not judges of others, we should examine ourselves -
ascertain the attitudes and desires of our hearts, as well as
our actions. We must not flee Supper because of sin,
but flee from sin because of the Supper.
The biblical order is: look up and eat!
4th. Look at the sides - FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN
1 Corinthians 11:33 So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for each other.
We are one body, one bread (1 Cor 12:13, 27). We met as
God's family, brothers in Christ, sons of the same Father Love
should be the link that unites us. At supper we find ourselves with the Lord
and with our brothers. Supper in the heavens and the earth meet. And we
we hugged.
