VIDEO: LOVE QUOTES

4 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres/ Love never fails”

What the world needs now is Love (agape love) The greek word for the Love used here is Agape or brotherly love or love feast!

“Did you hear about the teacher who was helping one of her kindergarten students put on his boots? He asked for help and she could see why??With her pulling and him pushing, the boots still didn’t want to go on.?When the second boot was on, she had worked up a sweat. She almost whimpered when the little boy said, ‘Teacher, they’re on the wrong feet.’?She looked and sure enough, they were. It wasn’t any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as together they worked to get the boots back on—this time on the right feet.?He then announced, ‘These aren’t my boots.’?She bit her tongue rather than get right in his face and scream, ‘Why didn’t you say so?’ like she wanted to.?Once again she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off.?He then said, ‘They’re my brother’s boots. My Mom made me wear them.’?She didn’t know if she should laugh or cry. She mustered up the grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again.?She said, ‘Now, where are your mittens?’?He said, ‘I stuffed them in the toes of my boots…’ Sermon Central

This morning we are going to look at the first two attributes of love.

1. Love is Patient

Love is patient or love is not impatient

Our world is seeking love that is patient with them.

When the world sees us in our every day lives, are we patient or impatient?

WORD STUDY: patient makrothumeo

1) to be of a long spirit, not to lose heart

a) to persevere patiently and bravely in enduring misfortunes and troubles

b) to be patient in bearing the offenses and injuries of others

1) to be mild and slow in avenging

2) to be longsuffering, slow to anger, slow to punish

Combined overview:

Love does not lose heart, perseveres, endures and is slow to anger

Do we love those around us this way?

When love is hard do we lose heart?

When someone is hard to love do we perservere?

When a loved one upsets us, are we slow to anger?

If these things describe love, by your actions, who do you love?

Do you love your wife? Do you love your children? Do you love the world?

BY YOUR ACTIONS!

2. Love is Kind

Couldn’t we all use a little kindness in our lives?

We live in an unkind world many times and the world needs a little kindness.

Kindness surprises people and gives us an opportunity to share.

WORD STUDY: Kind Greek chresteuomai {khraste-yoo’-om-ahee}

1) to show one’s self mild, to be kind, use kindness?

Illustration:

Root Word:

Greek: chrestos = KIND

Greek: christos = CHRIST

In the first century, the believers were so KIND that many people did not know whether their title was "follower of Christ," or "follower of kindness."

Do you think people would make the same mistake today.

Combined Overview:

To be mild and use kindness

Are we a kind people? Do we use kindness to help others?

When we see the opportunity do we show kindness, do we show ourselves to be mild?

If these things describe love, by your actions, who do you love?

Do you love your wife? Do you love your children? Do you love the world?

BY YOUR ACTIONS!

Love is patient and Kind.

Do we truly Love?

Can we allow the Lord to work in our lives and help us to really love the world around us.

What the world really needs now is Agape Love.

If they need it, we should be able to meet their need!
