WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR ENEMY?
Spiritual Warfare Series Part 1
I. WE HAVE AN ENEMY
Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are. I Peter 5:8,9
II. OUR ENEMY IS SPIRITUAL IN NATURE
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of £the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Eph 6:12 NKJV
A. Principalities: Chief Rulers
B. Rulers of the Darkness: regions of ignorance and sin
C. Spiritual Wickedness: Falsehood in the garb of truth
III. THE ORIGIN OF OUR ENEMY
A. Satan was created by God
You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was
your covering:The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and
jasper,Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of
your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were
created. Eze 28:13
B. Satan was the anointed Cherub
“You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you;
You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in
the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the
day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you. Eze 28:14-15
C. Pride caused Satan’s fall
“How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. 13For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. 14I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’ But instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths. Isa 14:12-15
IV. Satan’s fallen Character
A. Satan the deceiver or Liar
You are of your father the devil and the desires of your father you
want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand
in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he
speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. John
8:44
B. Satan is the Perverter
Destruction is certain for those who say that evil is good and good is evil; that dark is light and light is dark; that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. Isa 5:20
C. Satan is an Imitator
These people are false apostles. They have fooled you by disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14But I am not surprised! Even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. 15So it is no wonder his servants can also do it by pretending to be godly ministers. In the end they will get every bit of punishment their wicked deeds deserve. I cor 11:13-15
