Summary: When we face betrayal, cheating, or conning from others, our natural instinct is to seek revenge or punishment.

When we face betrayal, cheating, or conning from others, our natural instinct is to seek revenge or punishment. However, as Christians, we are called to surrender such situations to God's justice, trusting in His sovereignty and wisdom. In this article, we'll explore biblical reasons why we should let God deal with evil people and their actions, rather than taking matters into our own hands.

The Bible's Teaching

Romans 12:19 - "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord."

This verse explicitly instructs us to leave vengeance to God, who will repay evil deeds in His own time and way.

Deuteronomy 32:35 - "It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them."

Here, God declares that vengeance belongs to Him, and He will execute it in His perfect timing.

Psalm 94:1 - "The Lord is a God who avenges, an God who puts it into effect, bringing justice to the oppressed."

This psalm reminds us that God is a just God who will avenge the oppressed and bring justice to those who have been wronged.

Matthew 5:38-42 - "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also... Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Jesus teaches us to love our enemies and pray for those who wrong us, rather than seeking revenge or retaliation.

1 Peter 2:23 - "When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly."

Jesus, our ultimate example, entrusted Himself to God's justice when facing evil and injustice.

Benefits of Surrendering to God's Justice

1. Freedom from bitterness and anger

2. Trust in God's sovereignty and wisdom

3. Peace and rest in knowing God is in control

4. Opportunity for the offender to repent and seek forgiveness

5. God's perfect justice and vengeance, rather than our imperfect attempts

When faced with evil, cheating, or betrayal, let us surrender the situation to God's justice, trusting in His perfect timing and wisdom. Remember, vengeance belongs to God, and He will repay evil deeds in His own way. As we release our desire for revenge, we can find freedom from bitterness, peace in God's sovereignty, and rest in His perfect justice.
