What Jesus Was Made

Jesus Made a Curse

Gal. 3: 10-14

Jesus was made something that He was not “A Curse” :13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:

One of the reasons that Jesus was hurried to be buried is the law found in Deut. 21.23 that declares if one is hung on a tree that there body was to be taken down before dark, for it was a curse to be hung on a tree.

Notice with me the blessing that comes through Jesus Christ

:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

This blessing especially relates to justification;

Deliverance from the curse of the law

The curse of the law for our sins stands in the way of personal enjoyment of peace with God, comfort of the HG. Without Christ becoming a Curse for us we are condemned by the Holy Spirit.

That we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith whereby we now call Him Father.

V13 Jesus “was Made a Curse” for us.

V10 declares our guilt.

Have you ever tried to justify what you done or you are doing when it has been declared wrong?

Job 9:20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me:

Lu 10:29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

This man was trying to point to all the good deeds he had done and kept.

Lu 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knows your heart:

When I think in this line of trying to justify what we have done I almost always think of Mike Jackson going before Judge Edwards here in Sebree for an improper take off, burning rubber.

Mike had done made up a line to use on Judge Edwards of why he took off like he did, but when he went before the Judge all the Judge said was how do you plead? Guilty or not Guilty.

Mike said the Judge never asked why.

When you and I stand before God the question will be did you live for Jesus or not.

Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

The Bible declares that Jesus hanging on the Cross became the Curse of the Law for you and I, he bore all of our iniquities.

John 8 a woman is brought before Jesus who was caught in the act of adultery and the Law demanded that she be stoned to death.

According to the Law she was guilty and worthy to be stoned to death.

She could have been stoned and no questions would have been asked because she was guilty,

But they brought her to Jesus, and Jesus declared you without sin throw the first stone.

I don’t know about you but I’m glad someone brought me to Jesus because I was guilty of sin.

I was cursed by the law, guilty would be my plead.

But thanks be to God

Jesus was made a Curse for Me that I might be forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ.

If you have not been forgiven by God for being guilty to sin today I want you to know that Jesus Christ who was not guilty of sin was made guilty for you by hanging on the Cross for you and me.
