Summary: Jesus couldn’t have picked a more dramatic place or a more dramatic moment to make His claim. One that would involve Him as Messiah. He will be the divine guide of the people to lead them from their sins, and will be with them forever.

Jesus is the Light of the World.

There are many prophecies concerning Christ and what His presence would bring to earth; redeemer, devil destroyer, healer, bondage breaker, heart mender, counselor, etc

Scripture clearly states He would be the Light of the World

Isa 42:6-7 “I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.”

John identified Jesus as that light (John 1:1-12)

We put out Christmas lights for everybody to see

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Eph 5:14 ...Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Satan has worked hard to put out this light. People have tried to silence the bible and its’ teachers for centuries. But by the grace of God IT WILL NOT BE SILENCED!!!

Prov 4:18-19 “The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like complete darkness. Those who follow it have no idea what they are stumbling over.” (NLT)

Satan thought he accomplished putting out the light at the cross but that caused the light to shine brighter than ever so what does Satan do instead? He covers the hearts and minds of people with a blanket of darkness to prevent them from seeing the light.

THE FEAST OF THE TABERNACLES

At the close of the first day was the lighting of 4 great candelabras. Each with 4 great golden bowls. It is said that the light from these bowls was so great that every street and square was brilliantly lit from them. It was at this time Jesus made the wonderful claim that he was “The light of the world.” Jn. 8:12.

The feast of the tabernacles stood as a reminder. A reminder that god was with the people of Israel in the time of wandering in the wilderness.

The people would move out of their homes and live in tents and booths that were constructed out of sticks and branches. A testimony of that time when God guided them in a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night.

Jesus is saying that he will be a guide for the people.

ÞOne of the conceptions the people had at this time was the Shekinah. The shekinah was the glory of God. Num 9:15 The Glory of God would rest on the Tabernacle and be with the people.

Jesus is saying that he will always be with the people.

Jesus couldn’t have picked a more dramatic place or a more dramatic moment to make His claim. One that would involve Him as Messiah. He will be the divine guide of the people to lead them from their sins, and will be with them forever.

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Each one of us should strive to let the Light of Christmas shine through us.
