“I Can”

Romans 8:31-32 GNT

In view of all this, what can we say? If God is for us, who can be against us? Certainly not God, who did not even keep back his own Son, but offered him for us all! He gave us his Son—will he not also freely give us all things?

Many probably came in this morning wondering; What is up with all the cans on stage?

We are going to see on this journey thru some of the cans of the Word of God that we CAN be & do that God’s Word declares.

So today we are going to start out with some “I Cans” of His Word.

I. I Can Be Saved…

This is absolutely the most critical of ALL the “I cans” of the scripture.

John 3:16-18 MSG This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in Him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust Him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

The whole purpose for us having any knowledge of God & His Word is so that we can see our need of the Savior to bring us back into right relationship so that we don’t have to die lost.

Romans 5:8-10 NLT But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, He will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of His Son while we were still His enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of His Son.

Salvation has never been man’s idea. Our heavenly Father has put this awesome plan in place to rescue us.

Romans 10:8-10 NLT In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

So we must show that we believe by our actions of following the directions of God’s Word.

II. I Can Be Sanctified…

1. to make holy; set apart as sacred; consecrate.

2. to purify or free from sin: Sanctify your hearts.

3. to impart religious sanction to; render legitimate or binding

:to sanctify a vow.

Ephesians 5:26-27 NKJV …that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Does it not make since that God wants to make sure we understand the cleansing that He has provided so that we don’t attempt to live for Him still filled with the infections of our former life.

Ephesians 4:17-24 CEV As a follower of the Lord, I order you to stop living like stupid, godless people. Their minds are in the dark, and they are stubborn and ignorant and have missed out on the life that comes from God. They no longer have any feelings about what is right, and they are so greedy that they do all kinds of indecent things.

But that isn't what you were taught about Jesus Christ. He is the truth, and you heard about him and learned about him. You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits. Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy.

Sanctification is the realization that by God’s power we have been given an opportunity to a complete make-over on our life.

John 17:18-20 NKJV As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
