Summary: I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding (Pro 24:30). How is your garden? How is your Spirit, Soul and Body? Are they producing fruits of righteousness or choked with cares of this world?

A man who lived in Detroit for years and years was forced to travel to a foreign country very urgently. He left Detroit and he could not get back due to various situations (legal issues and the like). He stayed away for a couple of years and he did not give any forwarding address and he did not arrange for his house to be maintained while he was away. This man returned to Detroit after a couple of years after having endured a tough time in a foreign land.

On returning to Detroit he found that his entire home vanished and there was an empty lot in its place. He was furious and reported this to Detroit Free Press who researched this problem. They discovered that during this man's absence weeds as big as trees were grown all around the house harboring bugs, frogs, rats and snakes and the neighbors complained to the city about this house. The City tore down the house which stuck out like an eye sore due to unpaid taxes and auctioned the lot to others.

What happened?

Weeds grow easy but one needs to cultivate to produce anything useful!

My friends, natural order of things is death and decay in this fallen world!. The field in Pro 24:30 denotes your heart which needs to be cultivated with the word of God so that it produces fruits of righteousness and you need to make sure that it does not get choked by the worries of this world. Similarly a vineyard should produce new wine which denotes the Holy Spirit.

You life goes in the direction of your most dominant thoughts! What types of thoughts are you sowing in your garden? Are you sowing The Word of God? Are you sowing The Promises of God? Are you telling yourself who you are in Christ Jesus? Are you maintaining your spirit on a regular basis?

A farmer is very diligent in not missing his schedule. He sows, waters, weeds and harvests in a timely fashion. If he misses the schedule he cannot get a harvest. Similarly, we need to get rid of the lazybones in our body to maintain our spirit, our field in a vibrant condition.

When your spirit is strong everything goes well according Proverbs 4:23 which says "Guard your hear with all diligence". What happens when you don't guard your heart? If you are not fervent in spirit, old snakes and sins will find it easy to snuggle up into your spirit to rob your spirit, soul and body! As mentioned in Proverbs 24:34, poverty comes like a traveller (free loader) and lack like an armed bandit. Here traveller denotes a loss making spirit and bandit denotes a stealing spirit.

It is time to search out and examine our ways and to turn back to the Lord Jesus Christ (Lam 3:40). Time to be fervent in Spirit! Time to sow a good crop to reap thirty, sixty and hundred fold harvest.

Not only that, it is time to get organized and diligent in all that we do in our work and businesses so that we please The Lord (Col 3:22)

How is your field? How is your vineyard? How is your work/profession?
