What was the hardest thing for you to wait for when you were a kid? What about as an adult?
Isaiah 40:31 is a beautiful verse to commit to memory. Countless times I have recalled this verse and it has been a comfort, a reminder and a guide.
Today I want us to look at verses 40:27-31.
1. Waiting and believing God is in control (vs.27-29)
a. I don’t try to circumvent God’s plans
b. I don’t give in to temptation and sin against God by doing it “my way”.
2. Waiting and accepting I need renewal (vs. 30)
a. Do you have faith enough to believe that your best spiritual days are ahead of you?
3. Waiting…not idle (vs. 31)
a. Eagles aren’t idle when they are waiting for young to come along. They spend an enormous amount of time preparing for their arrival. The most important thing is the nest (aerie). Every year the eagle adds to his nest. And eagles can live up to 30 years in the wild. Aeries are commonly 2 feet deep and 5 feet across but some can become as large as 9 feet in diameter weighing 2 tons.
Our church is in a time of renewal. We are seeing God’s help in wonderful ways. As we have waited for His direction we have seen His provision. As we stepped in faith God has paved the road farther.
