Summary: Nothing is bigger than God: Sometimes He weaves our own depravity and disasters into achieving His goal of redeeming His people
God uses Jeroboam’s rebellion to accomplish His goal of redemption [1 Kings 11:29-39]
Rehoboam was a loveless leader yet God’s goal of redemption is happening [1 Kings 12:5-15]
The united Kingdom became un-united but God is still in charge [1 Kings 12:16-20, 21-23]

• God’s goal of redemption cannot be defeated by our depravity
• This is a message of hope
• God’s activity in the past strengthens our faith for the future
• Rebellion against authority can have painful consequences

• We might not know what God is up to but we can be sure that He is never against us
