Final Thoughts

1 John 5:13-21

1 John 5:13-15 (NLT)

I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. [14] And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. [15] And if we know he is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for.

Confidence

Belief in Jesus give confidence of eternal life – John 14:6; Acts 4:12

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

There is salvation in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them."

Confidence that God hears your prayers – Psalm 34:15

The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.

You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.

1 John 5:16-17 (NLT)

If you see a Christian brother or sister sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it. [17] Every wrong is sin, but not all sin leads to death.

When we see someone stumble we should pray for them

We know that those who have become part of God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot get his hands on them. [19] We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the power and control of the evil one. [20] And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we are in God because we are in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.

Satan replied to the Lord, "Yes, Job fears God, but not without good reason! [10] You have always protected him and his home and his property from harm. You have made him prosperous in everything he does. Look how rich he is!

Psalm 34:19-20 (NLT)

The righteous face many troubles,

but the Lord rescues them from each and every one.

[20] For the Lord protects them from harm — not one of their bones will be broken!

The world is under Satan’s influence

Jesus has given us understanding of who God is – John 14:9-10

God’s nature is revealed in Jesus

By knowing Jesus we know God

Jesus replied, "Philip, don’t you even yet know who I am, even after all the time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see him? [10] Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.

Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
