Summary: When criticism is based on lies and bathed in bitterness, it is essential to recognize that it is not coming from God.

As Christians, we are not immune to criticism. In fact, Jesus promised that we would face persecution and criticism for our faith (John 15:18-21). However, not all criticism is constructive or godly. When criticism is based on lies and bathed in bitterness, it is essential to recognize that it is not coming from God.

The Nature of Godly Criticism

Godly criticism is constructive, specific, and motivated by a desire to help us grow and improve. It is based on truth and is delivered in love (Ephesians 4:15). Godly criticism can come from trusted friends, mentors, or spiritual leaders who have our best interests at heart.

The Nature of Demonic Criticism

On the other hand, demonic criticism is destructive, vague, and motivated by a desire to harm and discourage. It is based on lies and is delivered in bitterness (James 3:14-16). Demonic criticism can come from anyone, including those who claim to be Christians.

Discerning the Source of Criticism

So, how can we discern the source of criticism? Here are some key indicators:

- Motivation: Is the criticism motivated by a desire to help or to harm?

- Truth: Is the criticism based on truth or lies?

- Tone: Is the criticism delivered in love or bitterness?

- Specificity: Is the criticism specific and constructive, or vague and destructive?

Responding to Demonic Criticism

When we encounter demonic criticism, it is essential to respond in a way that honors God. Here are some key principles:

- Don't take it personally: Remember that demonic criticism is not about you; it's about the enemy's desire to discourage and destroy.

- Don't internalize it: Don't let the criticism take root in your heart and mind.

-Pray about it: Take the criticism to God in prayer, asking Him to reveal the truth and to protect you from the enemy's attacks.

- Surround yourself with godly support: Seek out trusted friends, mentors, or spiritual leaders who can offer godly counsel and support.

Criticism is a part of life, but not all criticism is constructive or godly. When criticism is based on lies and bathed in bitterness, it is essential to recognize that it is not coming from God. By discerning the source of criticism and responding in a way that honors God, we can protect ourselves from the enemy's attacks and continue to fulfill God's purpose in our lives.
