Biblical Healing is first & foremost spiritual in matter
1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.2 It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.3 So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."4 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.6 So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.7 Then after this He said* to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."8 The disciples said* to Him, "Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going there again?"9 Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.10 "But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him." John 11:1-10 (NASB)
5 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"John 11:25-26 (NASB)
39 Jesus said , "Remove the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days."40 Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"41 So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes, and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.42 "I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me."43 When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth."44 The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."45 Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him.46 But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done. John 11:39-46 (NASB)
Who needs healing?
I His love
Jesus was familiar with these folks and they were family to Him.
A Probably had some money, influence as evidences by them having the resources to house Jesus & his 12 disciples on numerous occasions (Mary had a very expensive perfume she would put on Saviors feet)
3 Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. John 12:3 (NASB)
1 They sent a messenger to Jesus with a simple message, “Lord, behold the one you live is sick.”
a They tell Jesus their need, make Rabbi Jesus aware of situation, & let Him decide what to do.
b They made no demands, commands, no requests.
aa They don’t come to Jesus like He’s a waiter at a restaurant, Amazon.com
bb Jesus doesn’t work like that
c “The one you love is sick”
aa Lazarus is loved by the Savior.
bb 20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Gal 2:20 (NASB)
Paul, “He Loved me; John called himself the disciple Jesus loved; Pater declared Jesus loves us.
cc And by the way, Jesus loves you, me... anyone who is a child of God is one whom Jesus loves.
2 Lazarus was loved by Jesus yet he was sick.
a Just because your ill, children are sick, diagnosed with a disease it does not mean God doesn’t love you!
aa 1 For I have taken all this to my heart and explain it that righteous men, wise men, and their deeds are in the hand of God. Man does not know whether it will be love or hatred; anything awaits him. Eccl 9:1 (NASB)
bb In other words, you can’t tell by the circumstances your in to determine if God loves you... we don’t have that right.
