More often than not our basis on whether or not a person is a ‘good friend’ is the contemplation of inevitable ensuing requirements that may be placed on us.

God desires to perfect us in Christ Jesus. As we move upward in that perfection, we become closer to God as we become more Christ-like. As we become closer to God, we move into a different relationship with God.

Friendship is a deeper relationship than the world can offer, or wants to offer. Yet, that is what Jesus offers us. He offers to become our friend.

Finding someone to get into a Jonathan/David friendship is not up to you. It’s up to God. But, when God does bring that person into your life, then it is up to you to maintain that relationship through God or it will fall into disrepair.
