1. David,-The Shepherd Boy

David was perhaps Israel's greatest king. He wasn't born into a royal family, and didn't meet the guidelines some might have expected of a king, but God chose him. And that was enough.
Introduction: David was a very colorful character in the Bible. From a humble beginning in life, God used him to accomplish many things, eventually becoming king over all Israel. 2. David, The Soldier

Israel faced an enemy and thought they couldn't possibly defeat them. Goliath was a secret weapon, nearly ten feet tall and full of hatred for Israel. Then came a shepherd boy named David--and the rest is history.
Introduction: David had learned some of the arts of defense by tending his flock of sheep. We sometimes forget that David was human and would enjoy companionship. One day he found his first true love and she was closer than he ever thought possible.
Introduction: David was a young man when Samuel anointed him to be king over Israel and only a few years older, most likely, when he went into battle against Goliath.
