1. Matthew 5 - Part 2 - What Do You Mean Bankruptsy Is Ok?
Contributed on Dec 20, 2009
Who are the "poor in spirit"? Are they rich people with a poverty mentality? Are they poor people who are discouraged? Are they people who don’t have the strength of mind to make it in the world and Jesus wants to take them out?
Matthew 5 - Part 2 - So all of a sudden Bankruptsy is OK? When we lived in the Ukraine for a month, we witnessed incredible poverty. The beautifully ornate Churches over there have domes which are actually covered in gold leaf, but under them are the beggars. Such a contrast. I noticed at one ...read more

2. Matthew 5 - Part 3 - Good Grief!
Contributed on Dec 21, 2009
A book I read once was called "Good Grief" and it said that something good can come from losing a loved one. Jesus said to His disciples on the mountain,"Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted". Why did Jesus teach this to His Disciples?

3. Matthew 5 - Part 4 - Gentle Jesus, Meek And Mild - Not!
Contributed on Dec 22, 2009
The only thing about Christmas that bothers me is that people see Jesus as a baby, meek and mild but they don’t see Him for all that He really is.

4. Matthew 5 - Part 5 - Are You Hungry Enough To Do Something About It!
Contributed on Dec 23, 2009
Now we have a real problem here. We are told to hunger for Righteousness but this seems to contradict other scriptures that says that this kind of lifestyle is impossible for us to live.

5. Matthew 5 - Part 6 - Oh God, Please Don’t Send Me To Africa!
Contributed on Dec 25, 2009
So, do I have to go to the heart of Africa or some other war ravaged, AIDS ridden, refugee overrun, starving hordes kind of country before I can show mercy? I hope not! Is that unmerciful? What does being merciful really mean?

When I think of mercy I think of Mother Teresa spending her life working amongst the poor in India, but I don’t know why exactly. ...read more

6. Matthew 5 - Take A Bath! You Smell Like A Hypocrite!
Contributed on Dec 27, 2009
Take a bath! You smell like a hypocrite! Better to live like the unbeliever you are than to act like a Christian on Sundays. Because at least you won’t be deceiving yourself. Take the Purity in heart test from Matthew 5 and examine your motives!
Matthew 5 - Take a bath! You smell like a hypocrite! I don’t know about you but I don’t like the term "pure in heart". It seems like woose talk or I think of someone with an intellectual disability or so totally naïve they don’t see bad things happening all around them. Maybe even children, up ...read more

7. Matthew 5 - Part 8 - All I Want Is A Little Peace!
Contributed on Dec 28, 2009
Let’s get it right. A peacemaker is the person who has and encourages in others "peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us." (Romans 5:1). Jesus said "the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give" (John 14:27).
Matthew 5 - Part 8 - Kill the Peacemakers - Make war not Love! "BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS - for they shall be called sons of God." You may say "Well that’s nonsense. All you have to do is see all the so-called Christians who have been involved in bloody conflict in history, all done in the ...read more

8. Matthew 5 - Part 9 - Ever Been Criticised And Abused For Being A Christian?
Contributed on Dec 29, 2009
Unfortunately for many Christians, compromise is easier than being criticised and no-one would ever know that they are Christians, or if they do know, they are disappointed by the kind of example that is given.
Matthew 5 - Part 8 - Have you ever been criticised and abused for being a Christian? One of my jobs some years ago was working with disabled people. I remember working with a young Christian woman and my job was teaching her how to read. She would readily share her faith to others and I enjoyed ...read more
