9. In Whom All Things Are To Be Reconciled To God

Paul puts forgiveness of sin right alongside the blood of His Cross. God can forgive because the penalty has already been paid. Jesus paid that penalty through the blood of His Cross; therefore a righteous God can forgive you.

In this verse, Paul definitely declares that Jesus is the head of all things. He is the beginning of the creation of God―”By him was all things created.” He is the head of the Church and the Savior of mankind (and He is my Savior too).

The slave was not even classified as a human being; he was merely a living tool, with no rights of his own. His master could either beat or brand or maim or even kill him at his whim. There could not be any fellowship in the ancient world between a slave and a free man.
