1. Courageous Leadership

Moses is now gone. The weight of leadership rests on Joshua. There must have been a sense that Joshua felt weak and scared. God repeated the charge Moses gave to Joshua. Be strong and courageous.
“Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them” is a famous quote of Shakespeare. 2. Rahab: Remember The Name

Read Hebrews chapter 11 hall of faith. Where is Joshua? Where is Caleb? They did not make the hall of faith list. Rahab the harlot did. She is a great Old Testament hero of the faith.
Rahab is a harlot, a prostitute. In the footnote of my Bible it says that she is possibly the innkeeper. No, that is not a possible interpretation, and I will mention why a little later. 3. Take A Step Of Faith

We find The Children of Israel on the edge of the promise land. They had been wandering in the wilderness the past forty years. But to possess the Promised Land they must cross the Jordan River at flood stage. Everything was about to change with this step of faith.

4. Remember The Miracle

Crossing the Jordan on dry ground during flood stage was a great moment in the history of Israel. It was marked as an occasion not soon to be forgotten. When God manifests himself then make a marker in your life. A great spiritual experience is to chart the miracles God has done in your life.
There are some things you just don’t want to forget. If you win a sporting event you have a trophy to stand as a tangible reminder of that accomplishment. 5. Spiritual Preparation

Ever since Joshua was leading God’s people had responded by faith and now, they must prepare for what God will do next. The river at flood stage is behind them and the fortified city before them. No turning back.
What do you expect to see after a great victory? In winning a war you expect to see a whole nation in jubilant celebration. There will be parades maybe even a ticker-tape parade and much fanfare. 7. Your Hidden Sin

Chapters 1-6 of Joshua the children of Israel go from strength to strength. Then there was an unseen problem that would ruin everything. It was the hidden sin of Achan recorded in Joshua chapter 7.

8. The Day The Sun Stood Still

Joshua had the faith to ask God that the sun would stand still. Joshua is asking God to do the impossible. It is a challenge for us to believe God for something so big that it will not happen without a miracle.
Have you acted impulsively in a way that led you to make a huge blunder? Have you had some ups and downs recently? Do you need a miracle to get out of an impossible situation? 9. Caleb: Serving The Lord Wholeheartedly

When the band of spies was sent from Israel’s wilderness encampment Caleb represents the tribe of Judah. The majority of the men bring back a bad report. Caleb was lifted up as one who had a different spirit and followed God fully. His name means “whole hearted.”

We are saved by faith, believing God’s promises. Now let’s live by them. You need to recognize your future is as bright as the promises of God. You held on to the key of promise. Jesus said, I will never leave you or forsake you. God kept his promise concerning Israel possessing the land.
An elderly believer was facing death. 11. Choose This Day

Joshua said, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. The people responded; we will serve the Lord. OK says Joshua, then throw away everything and anything that stands as a hindrance to serving God and yield your heart to God (Joshua 24:23). The people followed God as long as Joshua lived.
