Herod is presented as a frivolous person, who desired to see some amusing tricks performed by one whom he probably regarded as some kind of magician. To such a person Jesus had nothing to say.

2. Jesus Before Pilate

The trials on Jesus’ last earthly day picture the religious & political world’s rejection of Jesus & His claims. He came unto His own and they did not receive Him. Sin’s blindness leads to Jesus’ dying because of who He is, God in human flesh.

3. Jesus Back Before Pilate

Jesus has become a political liability, so He becomes a political pawn. With ruthless, satanic reasoning, Pilate released a murder and sentenced the innocent Jesus to death by crucifixion.

4. On The Way To The Crucifixion

On the way to the cross the women of Jerusalem weep over His alarming & appalling judgment. Jesus advises them to turn their anguish for Him into mourning for themselves. Such sever rejection of the beloved Son of God puts an individual or society on a course that brings its own judgment.

5. Forgiveness, The First Word Of The Cross

Christ’s ministry on the cruel Cross began with the forgiveness of sin, with a plea for forgiveness, the full and free forgiveness for a world of lost sinners ruined by the fall.

6. Committed Unto Death

In our text we have the last act of the Savior before He died. It is an act of commitment, faith, confidence & love. While Jesus hung upon the cross seven times His lips moved in speech. This is His final word, His seventh word from the cross.
