Jeremiah’s call was not as outwardly manifested. It was simply the Word of the Lord came to him. For Jeremiah was his destiny that was emphasized. Before he was formed in the womb the Lord had this plan for him

2. Jeremiah’s First Sermon

Can you imagine the crowd that Jeremiah was preaching to as a 19-year-old. He is giving this message of harsh judgement to his dad and his dad’s priestly peers, not to mention the king.
Jeremiah was called as a prophet. We read this in Chapter one. He is told to fasten his belt around his garment, that is to say, roll up your sleeves and buckle your seatbelt for a turbulent ride. 3. The Lord Our Righteousness

The name of the king, Zedekiah means the righteousness of Jehovah. Jeremiah predicted he would be cut off and a branch would be raised up called, Jehovah-Tsidkenu: The Lord is our righteousness. (Jeremiah 23:6). Jeremiah was the true prophet and proved to be right on both accounts.

4. The Righteous Brach

The Old Testament prophets used the imagery of a stump as a prophetic promise. Jesus Christ is Lord our Righteousness and he came to save sinners. Jesus takes our punishment and becomes the LORD Our Righteousness, (‘Jehovah-tsidkenu).

This prophecy of Jeremiah of the New Covenant is considered the high-water mark of all the Old Testament prophecies. This is the glory of the New Covenant. This prophecy is quoted in Hebrews 8:8-12.
