Easter morning sermon on the hope that Jesus gives us. Also the start of a series on the Resurrection.
1 Peter 1:3-4 – Hope is in Bloom Let’s read our passage for today, 1 Peter 1:3-4, paying close attention to the idea of life in v3. As I was preparing for this message last week, I was thinking about this Easter lily that I bought Michelle. We both love these flowers. They are really ...read more

2. God Still Moves Stones
Contributed on May 1, 2006
This speaks of the guards and the rolled-away stone from Jesus’ tomb. It basically says that God’s plans cannot be stopped, and we can trust Him with the things that seem to block His will for our lives.
Matthew 27:62-28:15 – God Still Moves Stones Today we are continuing our series called He is Risen Indeed, based on the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What did His rising from the grave prove to us? What did it accomplish for us? Today we are looking at the story from the ...read more

3. Calling All Angels
Contributed on May 2, 2006
This talks about the role that angels played on the first Resurrection day. God used them because He wanted to, not because He had to. It’s the same with His servants today.
Luke 24:1-8 – Calling All Angels Tonight we are continuing to look at various angles of the resurrection and what it means for us today. Tonight’s message is a thought I have never preached on before, and I hope that it speaks to your heart. I’m talking about angels. Let’s read Luke ...read more

4. The Carpenter's Cloth
Contributed on May 22, 2006
This is taken from Sigmund Brouwer’s wonderful book of the same name. This speaks of the cross being only part of God’s plan of salvation for us, the empty tomb being the other. Jesus the carpenter wants to complete His work in us.
John 20:1-9 – The Carpenter’s Cloth Tonight I’m going to share a thought with you that I read several years ago, and it has blessed me ever since. In fact, likely, you remember it since I read it to you on my 1st Easter Sunday message in Doaktown and Blissfield. I hope that it encourages ...read more

6. Sight Unseen
Contributed on May 30, 2006
When the Risen Jesus told Mary Magdalene not to cling to Him, it was because Jesus wanted Mary to have a faith that went beyond the 5 senses. Jesus asks us to walk by faith, not by sight.
John 20:10-18 – Sight Unseen Today I am preaching 2 different sermons on the same passage of Scripture. That’s really the power of the Bible – there is so much good stuff in there. Two different people can preach on the same passage and get 2 completely different sermons out of it. The same ...read more

7. Distractions
Contributed on May 30, 2006
Three times people did not recognize the Risen Jesus. This looks at why. There were spiritual reasons, of course, but also real physical reasons too. This looks at what distracts us from seeing Jesus.
John 20:10-18 – Distractions Today we are continuing our series called He is Risen Indeed, messages about Jesus rising from the dead and what that means for us some 1976 years later. Today we are in John 20:10-18. We are looking at the 1st appearance Jesus makes after rising from the grave. ...read more

8. Behind Closed Doors
Contributed on Jun 9, 2006
This is about the disciples locking the doors because of fear; Jesus showed up, and they were afraid anyway. This deals with fear in our lives and overcoming it.
John 20:19-20 – Behind Closed Doors Today we are continuing in our series on Jesus’ resurrection called He is Risen indeed. What did the resurrection mean to the original band of followers, and what does the resurrection mean for us nearly 2000 years later? The truth is, the resurrection ...read more

9. What About Peter?
Contributed on Jun 9, 2006
This is a controversial but hopefully delicate sermon about Jesus’ appearance to Peter, and about how some things just aren’t our business to know.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8 – What About Peter? Tonight we are going to start off by reading our scripture, a very early creed of the church. It was like an Apostle’s Creed, a few brief but clear lines of doctrine about what the early believers actually believed. Let’s read 1 Corinthians 15:1-8. ...read more
