Contributed on Jul 13, 2002
God wants us to be wise not so that we can get ahead in life, but so that we can know how to be godly in every circumstance in life.
Imagine that a genie appeared to you just like in the movie Aladin. Instead of granting you 3 wishes, you get the economy version and the genie tells you that you are granted 1 wish of your choice. 3. God's Choice & Our Choices
Contributed on Jul 15, 2002
Temptation offers us many choices that might distract us from serving God. We have the choice to follow God because of one ultimate choice God made on our behalf.
Recently I heard about a middle school in Oregon that faced a unique problem. It seems that a number of girls there were going into the bathrooms and putting on their lipstick. After they put it on their lips, they pressed their lips to the mirrors leaving dozens of little lip prints. I guess they ...read more

The fortunes of God’s people are not determine by their bank account, but by their relationship with God.
In China many years ago there lived an old man, with his son and a horse. Back in those days, having a horse was like owning a car today, so you can well imagine how valuable a property the animal must have been. One morning, when the man went to his field to feed the horse, the animal was gone. ...read more

In order for us to become everything God desires us to be, we must listen to His Word and allow it to conform our behavior to His Will.

The only way to avoid spiritual adultery against God is to humble ourselves enough to obey Him.
One of the most common characters for children to learn about in Sunday School when they are young is Samson. Kids love to hear about the guy who was so powerful that nobody could beat him up. His physical strength was so great that he was able to bring a huge building down by pushing on the ...read more

7. Taking Care Of The Tongue
Contributed on Aug 19, 2002
The words that come out of our mouth only reveal what lies in the heart. The only real way to take care of a tongue problem is to allow God to change our heart.
Maybe you’ve heard the saying “What you do speaks so loudly that I can’t hear what you say.” In James 2:18, the passage we looked at last week, the brother of Jesus writes, “But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by ...read more

James warns us that faith that does nothing at all is not real faith. Faith can be either dead, demonic, but God is looking for dynamic faith from His followers.
Read Text: James 2:14-26 Over the centuries, the human race has passed along alot of wisdom from generation to generation. “Wise old sayings” are a part of every day life, and we use them without thinking. “A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.” Lots of great insight into life is passed ...read more

9. Living As If God Matters
Contributed on Aug 27, 2002
Nadab & Abihu serve as examples of what happens when we trivialize God and begin to live as if God doesn’t matter. Thank God for the grace that saves us from the consequences of our sin.
The story of Nadab and Abihu is not one of the most prominent in the Bible. - Unlike Samson last week, not one of those commonly taught in Sunday School. - Not in many people’s top 10 list. Some are probably thinking “Nadab & Abi-who?” The Hebrews had just been led out of Egypt. They had ...read more

What is the first word a little baby learns to recognize? It would be so nice if it were “momma” or “daddy” but anyone who has been around children knows that it’s not true. The first word a child learns to recognize, and because it is an easy one to say, the first one they learn to say is usually ...read more

No matter what Cain might lead us to believe, we are our brother’s keeper.

With that privilege and responsibility, human beings allowed sin to enter into the world. Once sin entered the picture, a creation that God had declared "very good" began to ...read more
