For the people of God history was (and is) always going somewhere. Life has ultimate meaning because of this hope we possess.

Nobody sets out with the goal of becoming jaded and bitter. There is no child thinking, “I hope I live long enough to be a really cranky nasty old man.”

Do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
