God desires unity in the body of Christ, but unity is not easy or automatic. God creates the unity, but it is something that we must strive to keep. Humility, gentleness, patience and forbearance help us to do just that.

2. There Is One Body

The first of the seven ones that equal unity is the fact that there is one body of Christ. This one body is the spiritual one body of Christ composed of all genuine believers in every time and place since the day of Pentecost.

For Jesus to be our Savior, He must also be our Lord. The Lordship of Jesus in our lives is lived out in view of God's ownership and our discipleship. The Lordship of Jesus is not a burden, but is our blessing, provision, and protection.

Although it looks like there are many faiths in our world today, there is only one faith that leads to salvation and unity and it is faith in Jesus. Our faith in Jesus must be expressed in leaning wholly on Him.
