THE BIRD'S RETURN
The great Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen (Ro-ald Amun-son) was the first to discover the magnetic meridian of the North Pole and the first to discover the South Pole. On one of his trips, Amundsen (Amun-son), took a homing pigeon with him. When he had finally reached the top of the world, he opened the bird’s cage and set it free. The homing pigeon did what all homing pigeons do, he flew home.
Each day that her husband had gone away (Amun-son’s), wife, back in Norway, was looking up to the sky for the return of that bird. When she saw the bird, she knew that husband was alive and had achieved his goal!
