A Graduate's Call
(Are Only Stewards)
A disciplined feeding on the Word of God and surrendering to the Lord in prayer leads to an understanding that mankind are only stewards to what God has given them. A man does not become a steward after he has been saved, nor after he begins to make money, have possessions, or authority. He is a steward -- good or bad.
All humble servants of the Lord are very aware of the fact God is not impressed with their achievements, opportunities, pos-sessions, talents or abilities for He is the one who gave those endowments to them. God extends His grace to those who live in the awareness that there will be a day of accountability. The Holy Spirit moved the apostle Paul to write, "Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. ...It is the Lord who judges me. ...He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God." (1 Corinthians 4:2)
All Christian graduates have been given a wonderful opportunity to receive a fine education. Some have been given scholarships and other jobs or maybe somebody is helping to make the way for them to move on in their lives. They have a responsibility to seek the Lord in prayer and seek his enablement to see their visions through to a healthy completion. Some have four years maybe five and some even longer before they will be fully trained to accomplish what the Lord is calling them to do. Moses was eighty years in his training before God used him powerfully. Biblically, Moses was a man of genuine faith, he was given the law to give to God's people, he spoke to God intimately and put proper stewardship on much of what God called him to do.
Christian graduates will do great things with the Lord as they apply proper stewardship over what God has given them.
