CHILDREN BORN OUT OF WEDLOCK

40% of all babies born in the U.S. in 2006 (most recent data) were born out of wedlock, double the rate of 1980. More than 80% of babies born to teen moms in the U.S. in ’06 were born outside of marriage. 60% of babies born to women ages 20-24 in ’06 were born out of wedlock.
