PRISON POPULATION

The Pew Charitable Trust reports that by 2011 the U.S. prison population will grow 12% retain, 1.7 million men and women and cost American taxpayers an additional $27.5 billion. That’s more than the population of Atlanta, Baltimore and Denver combined. Every year more than 600,000 U.S. inmates are released, but 66% return within 3 years. (Christian Post 3/7/07)
