In his excellent book on a Christian’s place in tomorrow’s world, Wild Hope, Tom Sine urges Christians to take change seriously. He writes, “If we don’t begin in our lives, professions, and churches to anticipate both the new challenges and the new opportunities the twenty-first century brings us, we will quite literally be buried alive in the onrushing avalanche of change. No longer can we drive headlong into the future with our eyes fixed on our rearview mirrors.”
Like the people of Israel in Nehemiah 10, we must apply God’s permanent standards to a world in constant transformation.
