Ralph Barton, a successful cartoonist, left this note pinned to his pillow as he took his own life: “I have had few difficulties, many friends, great successes; I have gone from wife to wife, and from house to house, visited great countries of the world, but I am fed up with inventing devices to fill up twenty-four hours of the day.”
Friends, fame, finances, and even family can never fill the vacuum left by the absence of God. Life comes when God returns to us. God returns to us when the barrier of sin is removed by confession and repentance.
We must turn to God because only he can forgive us.
