Sitting together at the supper table, my 5 year old daughter Rachel asked if she could ask the blessing. "Sure," I said. Obviously hungry, she very concisely prayed, "Dear Jesus, thank you for the food. Amen." My wife and I, and our two older children, were surprised because Rachel was famous for lengthy prayers. She usually remembered to pray for everyone and everything. Hence, we all spontaneously leaked out some snickers. Poor Rachel, tired and hungry, was immediately hurt and said, "You’re laughing at me!" At this our youngest daughter, Anna (three years old), spoke up, trying to clarify the situation and said, "They’re not laughing at you, they’re laughing at your prayer." Before I could utter a word of damage control, Rachel turned and looked at her little sister sitting next to her and said, "Well, GOD liked my prayer." Whoa, I thought, great reply Rachel!
