Household Restructure: For the first time in U.S. history, the traditional family―a married couple with kids at home―comprises less than 25% of U.S. households. Non-family households are nearly 1/3 of the total, a 50% increase since ’70. Multigenerational homes, with 3 or more generations of parents and children living together now make up 4% of U.s. households. (Direct 8/03)
