Where Evangelicals Live: 7% of the U.S adult population (15 million people) is evangelical. Little Rock has the highest percentage of evangelicals (22%) of all large U.S. metro areas. Los Angeles has more evangelicals than New York, Chicago and Boston areas combined! A new Barna Group report shows that although evangelicals living in the 10 most populous markets account for only 6% of the adults in those markets, that group represents 24% of all U.S evangelicals. Of the nation’s 86 largest metro areas, those with the lowest proportion of evangelicals are Salt Lake City; Hartford, CT; and Providence, RI. 13% of Alabama residents are evangelicals, nearly double the national average. 2 million call California home vs. 26,000 in Connecticut.
