Less Flex: The number of employees with flexible work schedules is dropping even as research shows non-traditional hours can enhance productivity. The number of full-time workers on flexible schedules dropped from 29 million in ‘01 to 27.4 million in ‘04, according to a U.S. Department of Labor a report. A 2005 Society for Human Resource Management study finds just 56% of companies offered flex time in ‘05, vs. 64% in ‘02. (USA Today 7/25)
